For people still interested in the Canadian miraje (I know quite a few
Romanians still believing that immigrating to Canada is a
getaway option, better than living in Romania that is) here's a
somewhat
helpful webiste with links to research positions and jobs. And btw, in
Montreal it's creepy cold these days. Last night
in Bucharest we had the historical lowest for March: -20 Celsius.

I just wanna reply to u'r message 'couse i think a lot of people get the wrong ideea about the weather in Montreal and probably Canada in general. I remember when i came last year in Montreal, from Timisoara, lots of people will ask me....is ur first winter here(espacially romanians) and i would say...Yes...and they will start laugh and telling me will talk after the winter will pass... well, is 2nd of March and check the temperature in Montreal if u wanna take a pick: http://radiocanada.ca/meteo/cities/bulletins/aff_bulletin.asp?zone=can&CityCode=YUL well is -4C..wow i'm freazing up here..:)) there were times..couple of days, maybe 3-4 days with -25 and with the wind...-35..:) but nobody died.... certenly i did not..:)) it is sometimes cold, but people tend to exagerate a lot. in general i think is colder than Romania..but still...is bearable... take care. bye
Good to hear that you're surviving and you didn't die. Actually I guess that if one take good care one can survive even at the North Pole and make a bearable living. Btw, we don't die in Romania either. :) Cheers and good luck.
It's true, the weather is survivable in Montreal and it's amazing how quickly you get used to -20c. And I personally have a habit of walking outdoors a great deal, so I tend to get punished a bit more in Montreal for that. Some data for comparison: Vancouver avg temp in Jan: +3.6c Whistler avg temp in Jan: -3.1c Montreal avg temp in Jan: -10.4c Cluj-Napoca avg temp in Jan: -4.4c Sibiu avg temp in Jan: -3.7c Bucharest avg temp in Jan: -1.9c Of course, those are averages... :)
not to mention that we're in March :)
very funny!
