Basescu appointed Tariceanu as expected to form the new government
which - surprise - was formally approved by the Parliament last Monday and
already started
to work. It should be noted that it is one of the youngest and most
promising (in terms of competence) cabinets Romania has had since 1989. Good
news, good news every day lately actually - it hasn't looked so good in a
long time, this could be the tipping point for Romania as a friend of mine
put it very well on IM today.

Disappointment ensued: http://septempiloctomia.blogdns.org/weblog/archives/2004/12/30/romanian-liberalism-mangled-truth-misguided-justice/ The above text expresses most of the thing I would. I also have an older entry on pretty much the same topics on my own site.
