Sofia joining Bucharest

Sofia's municipality will have a clock installed for counting the remaining time to Bulgaria joining the EU. Why do I mention this trifle - it's because Bucharest did this stoopid thing last year already. (via Seesaw)

Is it true that there are significant forces in the European Parliament wanting to postpone Romania's entry in EU? I read something about this in the last issue of Adevarul. How come Adevarul declared total war to the current government? I believe it is the very first time when they are in opposition.

It may be true -- the only fact is that in the German newspaper (Handelsblatt) there is a short notice about a group of Conservatives expressing their doubts about corruption problems being resolved by the actual Government on such a short notice. No more, no less. Basescu is saying that's irrelevant. I am not aware of a total war Adevarul may have - while the newspaper may have some influence on the Romanian public opinion, I find it manipulative, opinion-frustrated and fact-distorted and I stopped reading it for years now.
