Romanian SMEs Fair

It's at the beginning of next month and supposedly targets the small and medium companies. The organization arranging it is a State-owned agency, so I have my doubts about it - anyways, instead of bashing it I will just drop by and see what it's like, I guess it's good chance for taking the pulse of the Romanian entrepreneurs. 1. SME Fair
Hi Dragos, I'm very familiar with the SME fairs... I've been to (gulp) two of them already. They're sponsored by the government's SME Agency, and yes, they're a bit anemic. The Agency has been a political football for years, and has never had more than half-hearted support from the government. But they do try to make the SME fair at least OK. I would say it's worth a visit, if only to wander around, chat with people, and compare notes. Lots of common problems, and occasional novel solutions. cheers, Doug M.
  2. Re: SME Fair
I didn't have time to go, but had two friends who did - they were representing both sides, one being a banker and the other an entrepreneur. Both of them had a somewhat similar reaction: the banker mentioned something about the usual lukewarm feeling given by the Romanian mediocrity and which was present all over the place while the entrepreneur was pissed off that he had to cross town just to waste his time. I guess that this is too bad -- the overall objective may be good, but truth is that Romanian entrepreneurs nowadays don't really have a strong periodical meeting place, be it a fair, conference or just a networking occasion. A strong hub that is. Even though isolately there are some clusters they're rather local, superficial, poorly marketed and interests-oriented - and yes, I actually know you attended a few, Bucharest's a small village after all. :)
